It’s Sunday in Miami, it’s sunny and there is no rain in sight… Do you make the humans take you to the beach for a proper sandy Sunday session? Or do you head over to the dog park to get rowdy with the fur-pals?
What a major DILEMMA!!
Solution: Head over to North Shore Open Space Park in Miami Beach and you can have both! Have the cake and eat it too? You bet your ass.
Located on 85th and Collins Ave, North Shore Open Space Park offers a more relaxed atmosphere and beach scene than it’s cousin beach located ‘down south’ (aka: South Beach).
Unlike South Beach, this space is practically built for the four-legged community. It boasts not just one dog park, but two! One for little dogs and one for the big dogs, like me. (Alright, I might only be 15 pounds and considered petite, but let’s face it, I am BIG at heart).
And the beach? Well, just like all Miami Beaches, it is absolutely beautiful. The problem is that fur-dogs are not allowed in the water or in the beach area without a leash. This (see below pic) was as far as my human took me. So close and yet so far! I still managed to give my beard a proper rub in the sand though, so I was happy regardless.
After spending some time playing in the dog park section, I decided to go adventuring about the place with the human and see what trouble we could get into. Check out our adventures at North Shore Open Space Park below:
Bring a picnic and stay the day! There are picnic tables strategically nestled under big shady trees, what a perfect way to lounge the day away. Eating and napping!
If you have children (of the non-furry variety), the park also offers a very cool play zone for them. I believe they are called playgrounds, kinda like dog parks but for kids. Looked fun enough!
