Question: What is the best way to beat the Miami heat? Answer: Head over to Azucar Ice Cream in Little Havana and indulge on that delicious frozen concoction that makes my heart skip a beat.
Described as being “Inspired by South Florida’s diverse cultures, our hot subtropical climate and a passion for sabor latino, we create our ice cream confections just like abuela used to make, using the highest quality ingredients and a desire to bring smiles to friends faces”.
And bring smiles to friends faces, they do!
With so many unique and delicious flavors, Azucar is sure to bring a smile to even the most discerning of guests. The hardest part? Picking just one (or two) flavors. Pick from a slew of classics like Almond, Pistachio and Rum Raisin. Or, get tropical with flavors like Guava, Coconut, Avocado and Passion Fruit.
If you are really in the mood to try something new, then maybe the Platano Maduro (sweet plantain), the Cafe con Leche (Cuban coffee and oreo) or the Mulatica (cinnamon oatmeal cookie) flavors are up your alley.
So what did we choose?
The human decided to try their most popular flavor, the Abuela Maria®. Made with premium home-made vanilla ice cream, red guava gooey chunks, rich cream cheese and topped with crispy, sweet galletas Maria. (aka: classic Cuban cookies, think, sweet tea biscuit)
So what was I allowed to eat? Well, lucky for me, Suzy, the owner, made a very special treat especially for me. One Word: BACON. That is right, BACON ICE CREAM!! The craziest part of it all? Suzy decided to call the bacon-liscious creation, the Hami In Miami! You read that correctly, on this very special day, I, Hamilton Barkley, got an ice cream flavored named after me.
I don’t think you understand how happy I was. These pictures do not do it all justice. The bacon ice cream was sooooooooooooo good. It was so good, that even my nose and my beard wanted a taste.
